Alternatively, for a more scenic experience, the A-7 route is your best bet. This route takes slightly longer, averaging at about 1 hour and 5 minutes. But, if time is not of the essence, this route offers more than just a drive.

If your provider is not directly located at the airport, a shuttle service is usually offered to take you there. The shuttle service is located outside the airport, near the taxi stand, and takes a maximum of three minutes to reach the car rental company. The journey from the airport to Marbella takes around 40 minutes, depending on traffic. However, keep in mind that parking in Marbella can be a challenge during peak season. If your destination in Marbella is Old Town or beyond, we recommend taking the toll road for a smoother and more efficient journey.

You will find the taxi place immediately on the right when you walk out of the exit. The journey from the airport to Marbella takes around 40 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic.

The cost of a taxi ride in Marbella varies depending on your destination. If you're travelling with one to four people, expect to pay between 60 to 80 euros. For groups of four to eight people, the fare ranges from 80 to 110 euros. Keep in mind that an additional fee may be charged for luggage, particularly when travelling from the airport.

During peak season, it's worth asking the taxi driver if they're willing to take the toll road as this can save you a significant amount of time. However, keep in mind that the taxi driver will charge you for the toll road, which can range from 4.60 to 9 euros.

Airport lounge

Málaga Airport is not only convenient because of its central location, but it also offers basic facilities for travellers to utilise while waiting for their flight. Below, you'll find more information about the airport lounges, fast lane security, restaurants, shops and nice to know if you are travelling with kids. The VIP lounge at Málaga Airport is a great option if you need to pass the time, especially if you want to get some work done. It offers a more comfortable setting than waiting in the airport, with large windows that provide a view of the planes.

The food is decent, but don't expect anything extraordinary. We usually just grab a snack and some water here. If we want to eat a proper meal, we either purchase it at the airport or make sure we bring our own in advance.

The airport lounge is located after the large Duty Free shop after security, turn right, and the VIP lounge is just up the top of the stairs. There is also a lift that takes you to the VIP Lounge.

A word of warning! Do not solely rely on the screens to display your flight information. Flights begin boarding one hour before the departure time, and it's possible that the screens may not show your flight. So, it's always a good idea to double-check with reception.

You can access the VIP Lounge in one of the following ways:

  • If you hold a Business Class ticket or have associated club cards with your airline, you can enter the lounge.
  • You can use your Priority Pass membership (more information available here).
  • You can pay for entry at the lounge's reception desk. The current prices are €35.95 for adults and €16.55 for kids, while children under six can enter for free. Please note that prices are subject to change, so it's best to check with the lounge beforehand.
